Posterior PVR Redetachment on a Pseudophakic Patient
In September 2023, a 64-year-old man underwent a vitrectomy with cryotherapy and SF6 gas injection. Merely 4 weeks post-operation, he presented with a macula-off redetachment, accompanied by choroidal effusions and hypotony. This condition necessitated further intervention, leading to a vitrectomy, drainage of choroidal effusion, laser treatment, and silicone oil injection, as part of a meticulously planned two-stage procedure. The subsequent surgery included a vitrectomy, PVR peel, retinectomy, and a second silicone oil (SO) injection.
These surgical interventions underline the intricate and challenging aspects of managing posterior PVR redetachment in pseudophakic patients. The case illustrates the critical need for detailed planning and precise execution in retinal surgeries, aiming for optimal patient outcomes.
